Boston AcroYoga Monthly Workshop
Hi! My name is Lauren Clausen, I’m a certified AcroYoga teacher and I teach classes in the Boston area. For the past year or so I’ve been teaching mostly beginners and a question I get really often is “What’s next?” Well, I decided to ask myself the same question and here is what I came up with: A monthly Acro Yoga workshop geared toward beginner/intermediate students. After a little hiatus in July, we’re coming back strong for August! Since this all started with a question, I thought I’d explain a little more through the Q&A below.
Q: What is this workshop about?
A: During each workshop we will focus on a new washing machine, breaking down each pose and transition and then putting all the pieces together.
Q: A washing machine? Like the appliance?
A: Not really. In AcroYoga, a “washing machine” refers to a repeatable sequence of poses and transitions that start and end in the same position. So they go round and round continuously, like a washing machine.
Q: What is this month’s washing machine?
A: August is for Peacock Tumble!!
Q: Are there prerequisites?
A: Yes. Comfortable basing and/or flying – Shoulder Stand and/or Bicep Stand
Q: I have never, not once, ever done AcroYoga. Is this the right workshop for me?
A: Maybe not. You should be comfortable basing or flying the skills listed above. I would encourage you to attend at least one beginner classes first. There is an all levels class every Monday at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville from 7:30-9pm. More info can be found here.
